In recent years we have held a number of events on topics as diverse as: equality and diversity, multi-faith issues, history of Islam and its legacy in today’s world, education initiatives in Iraq following the war (Rawabit project), census changes, the work of a local councillor and a local magistrate, seminar with the candidates for the Essex Police and Crime Commissioner post, Home Office initiative to combat home grown terrorism as in the Essex Police Operation Boadicea project

We have also supported other local charities such as Southend Community-in-Harmony Partnership’s Big Event – particularly the sponsorship of the Bhangra Dance groups - and various events hosted by Essex Asian Women’s Association and the Southend Zimbabwean Network.

In addition to these early events, SEMF has held a number of open events for members and guests since 2009. For details and pictures of these, please refer to the reports of these events contained in the Newsletters in the About Us section
